A sketchbook of trace and collage. I keep a pile of artifacts at the corner of my desk: scraps from conversations, from the design process, from ideas. When I find the time, I sort them, cut them and collage them into something they weren't. Sometimes that's an extension of the place they came from. Sometimes they become something else entirely. It's experimental. It scratches the creative itch, and it feeds my sentimentality.

Sketchbook spread on yellow trace: a tangle of heavy black ink lines with handwritten notes above, and beside it a plan of a long building set among green watercolor trees.
01
Ink and watercolor axonometric on yellow trace: a low, angled cabin with board walls and deep overhangs, a long walkway running out to water, rows of green trees behind and in front.
02
Spread with a tall ink axonometric of a long, folded bar building shaded in graphite, running from left to right across both pages, with handwritten notes along the edge.
03
Spread with a stepped outline plan in heavy ink on the left page and a shaded axonometric of the same stepped bars on the right page.
04
Spread of plan and elevation studies in black ink with red dimension lines, a small collaged photograph taped into the corner.
05
Spread mixing cut magazine photographs of landscapes and buildings with ink sketches of stairs and walls drawn over trace.
06
Spread: on one page a faint radial graphite study with red marks and small collage scraps, on the other a bold ink axonometric of interlocking bars.
07
Spread with small ink perspectives and grey collage blocks on the left page and a row of compact plan studies in ink on the right page.
08
Spread of loose ink plan sketches, a dense scribbled center, and the numbers 4, 8 and 12 in red, with a grid of room plans below.
09
Landscape spread: a blue collage with a large magazine cutout and the printed word ECOLOGICAL on the left, red-and-black ink plan diagrams on yellow trace on the right.
10
Spread of layered collage, wood-grain and grey paper shapes at angles on the left page, black ink letterforms and a green swatch on the right page.
11
Spread with a colorful collaged section strip on the upper page and a dense hatched drawing over grey collage on the lower page.
12
Landscape spread: a mosaic of copper, grey and blue paper squares on the left, a dense graphite and red-line drawing on the right.
13
Spread of black and white photocopied forms, a flared sculptural shape cut and repeated across both pages.
14
Spread with tall thin elevation studies marked in red, handwritten notes, and the words OVER-ENGINEERED lettered large in black down the page.
